The International Association of Forensic Toxicologists (TIAFT) is a member-supported organization comprised of individuals engaged in the field of analytical toxicology and related pursuits. The organization serves as a point of contact for toxicology professionals. The TIAFT also supports ongoing research and initiatives aimed at advancing the field of forensic toxicology.
Forensic toxicology is a scientific discipline in which practitioners analyze biological samples to determine the presence of toxins, including drugs. These professionals are often asked to produce toxicology reports which indicate whether an individual as been exposed to a specific substance, and if so, whether the level of exposure is harmful (or toxic).
According to the TIAFT's website, individual members of the organization work in various industries and jobs. Horse racing, professional and amateur athletics, pharmacology, healthcare provision, and law enforcement are just a few examples of the industries in which forensic toxicology professionals are engaged.
