This type of background check is usually limited to information available from criminal justice agencies. Information collected during a criminal record check may include records of arrests, detentions, indictments, criminal charges dispositions, and fines. A criminal record check is often a part of the formal evaluation conducted by an employer regarding a prospective employee. A criminal record check may also be referred to as a criminal history check, a criminal history record check, a criminal background check or an identity history summary.
